How to read

To further your education, you need to know how to read better. That includes reading serious materials such as academic journal papers, books. In this level of reading understanding the content of the matter is the key. It’s markedly different from fancy novel reading but serious lituerate contents.So, we have to behave differently.

We can follow AIC approach.

The first step is anticipate, here we have to guess what author is trying to deal with. The possible source could be title of the material, such as book chapter name. If possible try to get an idea about the mood of the author- is he critical?Is is informing something? With this anticipation, your mind is more alert to grasp the material.

Next step is interpretation. The author must have posed the problem/propositopn and then he is trying to solve/validate that. You should understand the logical grounding of these process.

Next step is critical analysis. Here you are expected to form an rational evalution of the logical framework developed by the other. Is author’s reasoning is consistent? Is is comprehensive?

With this method you should get an insight about the material quickly.

Serena Williams:Phoenix

Very few mythology captures my imagination like myth of phenix, the legendary firebird.

According to ancient mythology,A phoenix is a mythical bird with a colorful plumage and a tail of gold and scarlet (or purple, blue, and green according to some legends). It has a 500 to 1,000 year life-cycle, near the end of which it builds itself a nest of twigs that then ignites; both nest and bird burn fiercely and are reduced to ashes, from which a new, young phoenix or phoenix egg arises, reborn anew to live again. The new phoenix is destined to live as long as its old self. In some stories, the new phoenix embalms the ashes of its old self in an egg made of myrrh and deposits it in the Egyptian city of Heliopolis (sun city in Greek). It is said that the bird’s cry is that of a beautiful song. In very few stories they are able to change into humans.

Indeed, there are few human pheonix in this world. As sports expresses all facets of human spirit in relatively short duration, we can relate few sport-person as phenoix.Most prominent of them is Serena Williams. We, male, seldom associate fairer sex with determination and grit. But, Serena with her repertoire of talent, physical power and above all awe-inspiring mental  strength always leaves me clueless like all her opponents. How she suddenly change? Like ph0enix, when all mortals expects  her to go down, she emerge as a enliven spirit. Clueless opponents,while wondering “who is this player..is she same player I was playing few minutes back?”, found the momentum has been captured by Serena and she is unstoppable. Almost all of her opponents face this kind of quizzical situation.

Another aspect of Serena is the absolute control over game once she gets the ‘divine’ momentum. She is merciless to say the least. Hats of Serena!!A true champion!!!
